You mentioned taking over -- don't just resign yourself to it. It's obvious when you talk about it. Like it's a dreaded obligation. If you're going to do your duty, then do it. If you run off to do your own thing, then he can promote from within. But don't just half ass your career.
[Easy to say when you're a line cook at a ramen shop making barely over minimum wage rather than going into any of the careers your dad wanted you to be interested in. But Gladio hates seeing anyone force themself to do shit they clearly don't want to do. Especially people that are getting the cushy job of CEO handed to them.
It's easy to get sloppy when you're uninterested in what you're doing. Making bowls or takoyaki or whatever? It's fun. It feels good to create something and know someone's enjoying it, even if it's just one dinner at a low cost restaurant. It's fulfilling, and that's why Gladio doesn't get sloppy, even if he thinks he's got to find something else to spend the rest of his life doing.]
